Lifetime Achievement Award in Tamil

 The Tamil Literary Garden is a non-profit organization registered in Toronto and devoted to the promotion of literary activities in Tamil, both nationally and internationally. Among its many activities, it awards, annually, a Lifetime Achievement Award for a distinguished person who has, over a period of several years, made a significant contribution to the growth or study of Tamil language and literature during his or her career. The annual award known as Iyal Virudhu is not confined to any country, region or genre and consists of a plaque and a cash prize of $1500.00 (Canadian). The award follows the annual lecture series held in June of each year for which a Fund has been set up at the University of Toronto. The venue and the exact date of the function will be announced in the media and on the website. The decision of the Awards Committee set up by the Tamil Literary Garden consisting of international judges is final.
